On April 29, I attended the North Bend No. 119 Colonial Ladies at the Table Lodge. It was a grand evening with a full house and a inspirational and educational program given by the Heros of ’76 Joseph Warren Camp. The program covered the history of our flag complete with a collection of all the different significant flags of our country.

Tangier Shrine in Omaha held a much needed fund raiser for Bro. Ron Stoffer on Saturday, April 27. Bro. Ron has long been a very active member at Tangier and has worked hard to help support the Hospitals. Although the fund raiser is over, I’m sure that Tangier would be happy the have any donations that you may feel like giving to this cause.
On Saturday, April 27, several of the Grand Lodge officers and the Grand Master participated in the One Day class held at the Scottish Rite Center and hosted by Lininger Lodge No. 268. There were a total of 4 candidates that went through the class and the Grand Master conferred the first section of the Master Mason degree. Other officers helping RW’s McBride, Maxell, Rix, Silver and WB Moninger, Myers, Barger and Brydl. We enjoyed helping these Brothers to become Masons and hope they have a long, fruitful Masonic career.
On Saturday, April 27, I attended the Florence Lodge CHIP event at the Safety Fair being held at Westroads Mall in Omaha. They had a great turn out and processed 254 children total and put a great face on Masonry for the public! Congratulations!
On April 25, I traveled to Olive Branch Lodge No. 274 in Walthill to attend a meeting of the Northeast Nebraska Masons. This group is working hard to promote Masonry in the Northeast part of our state and are being very successful at that task.
On April 24, I had the honor and pleasure and attending the Covert Lodge Past Master and Longevity night. I was honored to hand out one 50 year pin and four 60 year pins! The meal was great, the fellowship was great and we all enjoyed listening to the remarks of the pin recipients.
On April 23, 2013 Custer Lodge #148 held its annual Friendship Night/Scholarship Awards Dinner. A nice crowd enjoyed a spaghetti supper prepared by Bro. George Bundy. Representing the NE Grand Lodge were Deputy Grand Master Joe McBride, Grand Marshall Bob Moninger, and Grand Junior Steward Kevin Lindly. Honored guest, Bronze Jordan Medal holder George Mandeville, told me that while home on furlough from the military on July 26, 1945, his father loaded him in their vehicle, drove him to nearby Anselmo Lodge #258 and by special dispensation granted by the NE Grand Lodge, George was initiated, passed and raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason on that day. He said it was a very long day. After supper DGM Joe McBride played his guitar and showed off his singing ability with a couple of songs. The short Masonic video “Freemasonry and the Fabric of America” was shown.
WM Chet Wales (1st photo) and Secretary WB Kevin Lindly presented the Custer Lodge Scholarship to Sarah Erickson, daughter of PM William Erickson. Sarah’s plans are to attend UNL and major in Music Education. The Grand Lodge/Custer Lodge Scholarship was awarded to Tjade Rodocker, son of Thayne and Trish Rodocker of Halsey, and the great-grandson of BJM holder George Mandeville. Tjade’s plans are to study Fire Science at Ft Hayes State University in Hayes, Kansas. A scholarship for the Masonic All-Star Marching Band Camp was awarded to Alec Lonowski of Holdrege, who was unable to attend the supper.
The Grand Lodge has moved into its new home at 301 N. Cotner in Lincoln! On a cold Saturday, we picked up the old office (pre-packed by Michelle and Quinn) and moved to the new one. We had so much great help (see list below) and with that great help we had all the stuff moved by 11:30 a.m.! Now Michelle and Quinn have the unenviable task of unpacking everything and putting it in its place. Give them about a week, then feel free to stop by and look over the new offices!
A HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL THESE FINE HELPERS!
I had the honor and pleasure of presenting Illus. Sir Kent Priest with an apron from the Grand Lodge on Monday night at the Tehama business meeting. We know that Illus. Sir Kent will wear it with pride in his Lodge. I was also honored by Tehama Shrine by being made an honorary member of Tehama! This was quite the surprise and I am proud to be an honorary member.
