Carol Schroeder is retiring from full time work at the Grand Lodge this week and we had a nice lunch with some of the Past Grand Masters and other officers that she has worked with. Carol have faithfully served 21 different Grand Masters! Carol will be working part time for the Grand Lodge from home inputting the old membership cards so we will still have her help. THANK YOU, Carol for a wonderful 21 years!

Lincoln Lodge No. 19 145th Anniversary Dinner
I had the honor of attending the 145th Anniversary dinner for Lincoln Lodge No. 19 on 25 June. This lodge was chartered in 1868, a most tumultuous time in our Nation’s history. I was also honored to award two 50 year pins. It was a great night to celebrate a great old Lodge!
Visiting Brother from Scotland
On 25 June, I received Bro. David Lindsay of Lodge Coila St. Andrew No. 1334 in Scotland as a guest to the Grand Lodge offices. Bro. Lindsay is friends with WB Carlos Yandell and was in Nebraska to visit them and took time to come see the Grand Lodge offices and meet with the Grand Master.
Bro. Lindsay presented our Grand Lodge with a book concerning the history of his Lodge, a Masonic coin and lapel pin. We toured the building and talked about the many differences between Scottish Freemasonry and American Freemasonry. Trust me, we’ve drifted from the old ways a bit! It was fascinating to learn the differences not only in the work but in how Masonry is expressed in Scotland.
Sts. John Lodge No. 331 Meeting
The members of Sts. John Lodge No. 331 met in Lincoln on 24 June to enjoy some great research and great fellowship. The evening’s presentations were given by MWB John Parsons, who explained the origins of Prince Hall Masonry and how it’s lack of recognition is based in revolutionary politics and Bro. David Long who shared a presentation with the Lodge regarding alchemy and it’s relation to Masonry.
If you are interested in joining this Lodge of Education, please let me know!
Rainbow Girls Grand Assembly
On 14 June I attended the 68th annual Grand Assembly for the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. The Grand Assembly was well attended by the girls and was extremely well run. I was also inducted into the Grand Cross of Color by a most impressive ceremony and some of the best ritual work I’ve seen in a long time! Congratulations to Sammy Voshell on a very successful year and good wishes for the future!
Platte Valley Lodge No. 32 Outdoor Lodge and Picnic
On 11 June, I traveled to North Platte to attend the annual Lodge picnic and outdoor meeting. The meeting was on Bro. Walt Johnson’s place (and it was Bro. Walt’s birthday). The weather was nice and we enjoyed some great food and fellowship before heading out into the pasture to set up Lodge. WM Mike Beall opened Lodge in form and a very productive meeting was held. Platte Valley is busy with degree work, blood drives and other activities.
Cornerstone Ceremony for New Grand Lodge Building!
June 9th was the grand opening and cornerstone ceremony for the Grand Lodge Office Building. We had a great day with over 130 people in attendance to watch the ceremony and tour the building.
