Donation to Veterans Shelters in Omaha and Lincoln from Nebraska Masonic Foundation and the Masonic Veterans Partnership (MVP)

18 Dec

On December 17, 2018, Grand Master Patrick Barger presented a $7,000.00 check from the Nebraska Masonic Foundation and the Masonic Veterans Partnership (MVP) Program to the Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System at the Omaha Veterans Hospital. The donation will be used for incidentals for Veterans Shelters in Omaha and Lincoln.

The money was donated by Masons to their lodges for the MVP Program across the State. Today’s MVP Program was originally the Change for the Troops Program initiated by Past Grand Master John T. Parsons in 2010 and the donations for the first few years were used to purchase phone calling cards for deployed members of the United States Military.

With the reduction of forces and the availability of internet communications to troops, the program was rebranded as the Masonic Veterans Partnership (MVP) Program. Since then, MVP donations have been used to purchase two Ford Flex vehicles for the Veterans Administration that are used to transport veterans to and from medical appointments.
