I am interested in early masonic records (late 1800’s and early 1900’s) for Pawnee City. Do your knowledge are any records existing? My great grandfather, Augustus Emanuel Hassler, died in the Masonic Hall in 1899 and in doing genealogy work, am interested in how high a degree he obtained, etc. My father, died in 1959 having obtained 32d.

Jerry, Our old records do not provide very much information on the members. I do have a record for your great grandfather that shows he affiliated with Pawnee Lodge No. 23 on 1/23/1872, but I do not have any record of where he might have done his degree work. He most likely joined in another state and affiliated with our Nebraska lodge on that date. -Michelle Fulmer, Office Manager

Jerry – I am a descendant of Augustus’ brother, Samuel, and was looking into your great-grandfather’s civil war service. Do you happen to have any information?
