Widows Sons Members Visit The Nebraska Masonic Home

On Sunday, October 13, the Widows Sons of Memento Mori Chapter rode from Lincoln to Plattsmouth to visit The Nebraska Masonic Home. Mary Russell, Executive Director of The Home, gave them a very warm welcome, an excellent lunch and an eye opening tour of the facilities. The Chapter members commented on what a fantastic facility The Home is, and that the grounds are beautiful and the architecture is stunning. The Chapter members are very proud to raise money for The Nebraska Masonic Home in Plattsmouth, as well as the Masonic-Eastern Star Home for Children in Fremont. The Widows Sons “are Masons first, bikers second, and have a passion for the Craft.”

Bryan Grove, Chapter Secretary, said of the facility, “As a full-time registered nurse, I’ve been in many long-term care facilities.  I can proudly say this facility was the best kept, clean and organized long-term care I’ve seen. Interactive staff and knowledge of the facility are some of the few words I can say about Mary and her staff.”

One of the residents decided she wanted to go for a motorcycle ride. She had a great time, and a smile a mile wide.

On September 29, 2019, the Memento Mori Chapter in Lincoln of the Widows Sons Masonic Riders Association, rumbled up Highway 77 to Fremont to the Masonic-Eastern Star Home for Children. They attended the All Masonic Picnic, celebrating the 125th Anniversary of Arbor Vitae Chapter #92 OES, and presented a check to Ron Giesselmann, Executive Director of the Home.

It’s always a pleasure to see these kids and the excellent care they are receiving. Giving the donation was something we do, but sitting down and having lunch with them is the reward.”
