Brother Hal Huff Exhibits Great Proficiency in Master Mason Degree

On November 1, 2022, Brother Hal Huff, Waterloo Lodge No. 102, exhibited great proficiency in the Master Mason degree and was awarded the Grand Masters proficiency coin by Deputy Grand Custodian Charlie Odorizzi.

Bro. Nolan Awarded Grand Master’s Full-Form EA Proficiency Excellence Coin

On behalf of Grand Master Alex Straatmann, MWB Russ Reno presented a Grand Master’s Full-form Entered Apprentice Proficiency Excellence coin to Bro. Rylie Nolan at Cotner Lodge No. 297’s pasture lodge meeting. W. Bro. Jeff Axelson, right, was his mentor. Bro. Nolan is eager to earn the two remaining coins as he progresses through his newfound journey into the foundations of Masonry.

Fidelity Lodge No. 51 EA Degrees

On Sept 22, 2022, Brethren from Waterloo Lodge No. 102, Lebanon Lodge No. 323, and Fidelity Lodge No. 51 combined to confer the Entered Apprentice degree on two new brothers, Jeff Palik and Ray Fuller.  Even better news is that four more are soon to become new members of Fidelity 51 as well.

Omaha Area Masters & Wardens Club One-Day Fellowcraft Degree

On Saturday, August 20th, 2022, the Omaha Area Masters & Wardens Club [OAMWC] helped put on a one-day Fellow Craft Degree for four area Entered Apprentice Masons. The degree team was composed of Grand Lodge Officers, Deputy Grand Custodians and Brothers from the area. Brothers Trenton Ragan, Gabriel Samson, Morgan Demi from Bee Hive Lodge No. 184 and Brian Pickett of G.W. Lininger Lodge No. 268 were all passed to the degree of a Fellow Craft Mason. Nebraska Lodge No. 1 hosted the event. Lunch was provided after the degree by Most Worshipful John Maxell.

Franklin Lodge No. 264 Conducts EA Degree

On June 20, 2022, Franklin Lodge No. 264 conducted an EA Degree with assistance from Superior Lodge No. 121, Jachin Lodge No. 146, McCook Lodge No. 135 and Thistle Lodge No. 61. Eighteen Master Masons attended. New EA Mason Timothy Burgeson of Orleans is pictured in the center.

History of Nebraska Cornerstone Layings

A new scanned book from the Nebraska Masonic Foundation Library has been added!  The History of Nebraska Cornerstone Layines by WB George W. Rosenlof, Grand Historian contains the history of the ceremony, interesting facts about the various periods of this tradition and a complete list of stones from the first cornerstone (University Hall, UNL Campus, 1869) up to 1960.

Grand Lodge of Nebraska’s Individual Proficiency School

Grand Lodge of Nebraska’s Individual Proficiency School. Below are the pertinent details:

  • START DATE/TIME: February 23, 2014.  2:00 to 4:00 pm. Monthly thereafter
  • LOCATION: Grand Lodge Office,301 N. Cotner Blvd., Lincoln
  • PREREQUISITE: Nebraska Entered Apprentice Degree Lecture Section I, full Questions and Answers
  • REGISTRATION FEE: $25, refundable on graduation. Payable before class starts by check only
  • ATTIRE: Casual yet appropriate
  • MATERIALS REQUIRED: Current Nebraska Ritual Cipher

Enrollees will be verbally tested in the EA Questions and Answers by the Grand Custodian or his Deputies on the first day of class. Those not passing will have no registration fee collected. After the class begins no refunds will be offered, however your $25 fee will be donated to the Grand Lodge Masonic Relief Fund.  Only Grand Lodge Officers, Deputy Grand Custodians teaching the class, and uncertified students not currently fully proficient who have paid the registration fee will be allowed in the classroom without permission of the Grand Master or Grand Custodian.

This is currently the only class being offered. Classes in other geographical locations may be offered if interest and registration supports it.  Classes will not be conducted via the internet or other electronic media.

More details will be announced on Friday, February 7 at the Annual Communication of the Grand Lodge in Kearney.

New Master Mason Bro. Max Carter

On 18 December, RW John Maxell, WB Bob Moninger and myself had the pleasure and honor of conferring the first section of the Master Mason degree on Bro. Max Carter who is also DeMolay State Master Councilor.  This is first time in 20 years that all State Master Councilors will be Master Masons by Annual Communication!  Welcome Brother Max!

I also want to congratulate Mizpah Lodge for putting on a great Master degree!  If you want to see a great degree, one with interest and passion and accuracy, stop by Mizpah for a Master degree sometime.  They really do a great job!

Outdoor Master Mason degree at Osceola No. 65

On Saturday 28 September, Osceola Lodge No. 65  held an outdoor Master Mason degree.  The candidate’s name is Michael Neujahr.  Pronounced newyear)  Others in attendance were Sec. of Rob Morris #46 Mike Webb his brother in law from Wood River (Cement Lodge)  and father-in-law.  R. Mike Hoagland from Kearney Currently Master at Jachin #146 in Holdrege.
