15th Annual Masonic Charities Golf Tournament a Rolling Success!
The 15th Annual Masonic Charities Golf Tournament, sponsored by the Grand Lodge of Nebraska, was held on Monday, September 12, 2016 at the North Bend Golf Course. The tournament hosted 112 golfers who attended to support the charities. The tournament raised $19,750 to be split among the three charities: The Nebraska Masonic Home in Plattsmouth, the Masonic-Eastern Star Home for Children in Fremont and the Nebraska Masonic Foundation. Golfers also enjoyed the company of and golfing with Husker legends Jerry Murtaugh, John O’Leary, TJ O’Leary, Jake Wesch and others. A live auction featuring Husker memorabilia was very successful.
We would like to thank the golfers who participated, the numerous volunteers who helped with the tournament, including Brothers of North Bend, Fremont and other neighboring lodges, Steve Strauss and Kragh Johnson for a wonderful meal, the North Bend Golf Course and the Grand Lodge golf tournament committee. Don “Pete” Peterson, Co-Chairman, was instrumental in raising such a large sum for the charities this year.
Concession Stand Crew Supports Masonic Relief Fund
W.B. Troy Myers, Past Master of Cotner Lodge No. 297 and member of the Masonic Relief committee organized an effort to supply manpower for a concession stand in the new east upper deck of Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, NE for all of the Husker home games. The ideal crew size is eight, but the concession company employees fill in when short of volunteer workers. The money contributed per week is based on the number of volunteers working that day. Call Troy Myers to reserve a spot before the next home game, then come to Lincoln, get parked, and show up at the West doors of Cook Pavilion. The friendly folks will look at your photo ID, record your name, and fit you with a wrist band and vendor badge. You will then be walked to the concession stand, and shown all you need to know to feed the greatest football fans ever! It’s a great time and a chance to aid and support a fallen brother. There’s even a free Runza sandwich or a Fairbury hot dog in it for you! Call Troy today!
