The 2015 Grand Lodge Officers enjoyed a weekend of work and fun at the Lied Lodge in Nebraska City July 24, 25, and 26, 2015. It was a fun weekend away from the normal hustle and bustle of life as a grand lodge officer to enjoy time with each other relaxing and getting better acquainted with family members. We wouldn’t be grand lodge officers without a couple of meetings, so we did that and prepared for the activities coming this fall.
The theme for the weekend was ‘Come Gnome and Relax’. There was a gnome hunt with prizes and adventure. Plenty of time to simply enjoy the weekend.
Grand Master John Maxell made a visit to Silver Cord Lodge No. 224 in Ainsworth on August 11, 2015. John is pictured with Master Rick Carr in the East. On the agenda for the evening was Master Mason Proficiency for Whitley McBride, son of Past Grand Master Joe D. McBride. Pictured are M.W. John Maxell, W.M. Rick Carr, Bro. Whitley McBride, and M.W. Joe McBride.
Members of Pawnee Lodge No. 23 in Pawnee City, along with Grand Master John Maxell, traveled to Legacy Terrace in Lincoln to present a 70-year membership award to Brother Charlie Slagle on August 2, 2015. Brother Slagle was raised in December of 1945, and is a dual member with North Star Lodge No. 227 in Lincoln. He told stories of being a POW during World War II and joining lodge shortly after.
